The Pizzia was the best. They were really busy on the Saturday night we went, we were told a 20 minute wait but with that within five minutes. Going to make sure we stop again

My whole family came up to Winter Park from Texas for a week long vacation. I drove up from Denver to join them and after a great week of golf, rafting and hiking we decided to eat here on our last night in town. We called ahead hoping to minimize the wait and were quite surprised at the size of the Friday night crowd. We had a rather large party of 14 and after a 45 minute wait we were seated in the bar area. Although we were not seated together, the four tables assigned to our party worked out well. The boys sat together, as did the girls, and the adults pulled two tables together. Christy, our waitress, took care of the drink orders pronto and in no time we had all ordered. First off, let me say that the Greek salad was wonderful. We ordered a family size for the adult table and I am already thinking of stopping back by one weekend to have another. I ordered the Stromboli and found it to be quite tasty and rather large for an individual serving. I ate half and one of the boys had no problem finishing it. The marinara dipping sauce was very good and I pushed away from the table quite satisfied. The others in my group ordered pizzas and various pasta dishes. The consensus was that the food was great all around. Christy was very efficient and had a great personality to boot. The prices were reasonable and the ambiance was warm and inviting. Having had a mediocre dining experience earlier in the week we were quite happy to enjoy a great meal and excellent service, especially given the size of our party. I wholeheartedly recommend Hernando's to anyone looking for good Italian fare at a reasonable price.

My personal favorite place to eat in Winter Park based on a total of four restaurants I've eat at in this town (so take that with a grain of salt!). Biggest tip: CALL AHEAD. The first night I went, I was told we'd wait for 1.5 hours.. but we were dedicated to eating there, so we waited at the bar with some of the nicest, coolest bartenders ever. They got us fixed up quickly, gave great suggestions, and made small talk with everyone. What was supposed to be a long wait only turned out to be a 45 minute one. The whole room is decorated in dollar bills and has a cozy ski lodge feeling. They are known for their pizzas and boy, are they good. The first night we tried a more plain traditional style, but the second night we went crazy with a mediterranean style with tons of basil and garlic. Both were super good.

This is some of the best pizza around. We don't mind the 1 1/2 hour drive to Winter Park, if this tasty goodness is meeting us when we get there. Hernando's has been one of our favorite stops in Winter Park for many years. Whether it's after skiing or hiking we always stop by for their amazing pizza. You have to start with their family style garlic bread sticks served with cheese and Marinara sauce. Then try their Greek salad served with feta cheese, red onion, Greek olives, pepperoncinis and oregano vinaigrette. Delicious!!! Then it's on to the Jerry's Special pizza made with their wheat crust. This is a meat lovers feast! Pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. The best part is when you finish the pizza you put honey on the crust for dessert. This is our families favorite pizza joint! This cute, British style pub is a must stop for anyone visiting Winter Park!! The kids love trying to count all the dollars on the walls and ceiling. Good luck!!:)

Hi Jeff, We tried but all the markers were dried out. So busy we didn't want to bother our waitress with it. We have to do it next time for sure! How about opening another location in Orlando, FL? Posting more photos of our fun and fab dinner at your restaurant. Just loved it! Thanks, Karina

This is the place to be in Winter Park for dinner any night of the week, and the packed parking lot is proof. Best pizza in Winter Park, no contest. This place can compete with any pizza place in the metro area as well. I'd love to see a second location in Denver! The dough is perfect, not to heavy. Actually, it's so good, the crust with honey is a perfect desert. Don't skip this place if you're in Winter Park around dinner time. You'll be missing out!

  • Erica K.

So. So. GOOD! The we got whatever the garlic/double cheese style was called, and we're so impressed. Our server pointed out that the honey was for the crust, and I'm glad she did! The crust was actually as delicious as the pizza itself. I was surprised to see that they only have four stars, but after reading other reviews see that the complaints aren't food related, they are regarding service and dislike of the decor...we had great service and I will be back!

I went here and naturally left singing Hernando to the tune of Fernando, I really hope the Abba vibe hits other people when they come. This is some damn good pizza, I was pleasantly surprised as restaurants in mountain towns seem to be hit or miss! We went on a Saturday night and it was bonkers in there--I highly recommend making a reservation. Otherwise you will be standing in the hallway with 40 other people (the night we went seemed to have a bus load of kids there, fun). Our server was quick but think she got annoyed with us trying to do match and offered to split our check and made a snarky remark when she brought back our checks that they never do that....ummm ok....you offered to split it? Even though the pizza was great (crust baked on the inside!) and I loved the side salad, what I will remember about this place is that it's loud, busy and lots of kids. It was like a glorified Pizza Hut when they had the Book It program (totally dating myself there), it was a little out of control and really I just wanted to have my pizza and get out since the atmosphere was bunk.

After a heavy day on the slopes and in the park we drove in here for some pie. Good choice, the place was super packed, so apparently everyone else had the same idea. Nevertheless to decrease our wait time we sat at the bar to have diner and shared some brew. The staff is friendly, the beer cold, and pie hot. What more do you need to know? Cheers!

It has been years since I have been here but I miss it so much. SO MUCH. One of the best pizza places, ever. I honestly want to go to Winter Park just to eat here. I loved the atmosphere. I think its pretty cool how they stick dollar bills all over the walls. Its unique. I also love the idea of the honey and bread crust. Simply delicious!! If you are looking for a cool place, to chill and eat good pizza come here. You wont be disappointed.

Delicious, fluffy crusted pizza and large wine menu. Service was great, atmosphere unique. Definitely worth a stop.

  • Julie H.

Really good, lots of flavor. They have bottles of honey to put on your pizza. It sounds weird but it's actually pretty good in a really unique way. Our server could've been better but otherwise I enjoyed it!

  • Jack G.

Great pizza after a day on the slopes. Their bread sticks are a must order. Take a dollar bill with you to decorate the walls. My only complaint was that we had to wait 30 minutes past our reservation. The food was excellent but can't you seat people around their reservation time?

My boyfriend's family had been here the previous year and raved about it. We stopped in around 8PM and the hostess said it was a 45 minute wait! It was crazy busy for such a late dinner time, but it was less than 15 minutes that we were seated. The mason jar glasses were awesome and I loved the tables and furniture. I know it's famous for the dollars, but I'm just not a fan. I think the interior would be a lot more attractive if they took out all the dollar bills. Plus, it's illegal and in my opinion doesn't look good. Our waiter didn't ask us, or the table next to us, what size pizza we wanted. It was like she was making a guess as to what size we were going to get. Instead of saying, what size would you like? She was saying, 14? Or 12? Ect. My boyfriend and I planned on getting a 14'. When she took our order he talked her it and when she quickly said 12? He completely missed that question. She did say it super quick and I hardly knew which number she had said. We didn't see her much after that I just guessed we would see what we get when we get it. Turned out she said 12', but it wasn't a huge deal, just no leftovers like we wanted for tomorrow. The pizza are SO amazing, so make the stop!

  • Todd L.

Service and pizza here were amazing. From the host that started us to our waiter, everyone was super cool. The pizza was awesome and loaded with toppings. If ever in Winter Park again we'll definitely enjoy Hernando's once more!

    (5)
  • Dana K.

Hands down, my favorite après ski place! It opens at 4, so typically go straight from the slopes to Hernando's. I have tried both the thick crust pizza and the thin. Both are good, but that thick crust is just so yummy, I think about it every time we pass that blinking sign coming into Winter Park! What time is it? Is it 4? Can we stop at Hernando's?

  • Tober C.

I enjoy the spaghetti and meatball here. At my visit, I also ordered a pizza to take home. The center of the crust was mush. The quantity of the ingredients were barely visible. The red sauce didn't cover the base of the pizza, and the crust overlapped a third of the pie surface. When the inattentive waitress brought the change from my cash payment of the check, she apparently didn't think I needed the coinage (nearly a dollar's worth). As a side note, the restaurant was not busy that evening. When I want a pizza now, I buy one in a cardboard box from the local grocery, cook it at home, and have a better meal. As a local resident, I will not eat here again, nor will I recommend it to friends who come to visit. I suppose it's good enough for the tourists who don't know any better...

  • Will M.

I enjoyed!! Great place, people, product and most importantly character! The waitress, Anne as I recall was a delight! She even gave advice to my family... Ugh so nice. The dollar bills on the walls added some detail and love to the building, creative!! Most importantly, as told by my review I'm a manly guy, so this was the place for me. The ladies in attendance, yippee, cheers my guys!

Depends on your standards for pizza - if you enjoy average pizza you might give it 3 stars but hard to see how it could rate any higher. There seems to be a long wait every night - at least in the winter. On two different nights the hostess told us 1-1.5 hours wait but if we could find a seat at the bar we could take it and that's what we did. They have a decent beer selection on draught. We tried the garlic house specialty pizza on a rolled crust after the waiter would not allow us to order a pizza with half red, half white sauce toppings. It was ok but nothing to write home about. The crust was plain and abundant. We would have liked to try the thin crust but there probably won't be a second time. The bartender/waiter was far from enthusiastic about his job, doing the bare minimum and almost throwing the plates in front of us. The ambiance is casual and the place has a relaxed environment to hang out with friends after skiing. However, the food is subpar.

  • Steve F.

Place was way better when the servers didn't wear collared shirts, this isn't LODO!! And only 1 tiny TV in the corner really?? Still 5 stars for the bomb pizza and service.

    (5)
  • Paul F.

Way over-rated. Had two 14 inch and only half of pie covered with sauce and little toppings. Mostly just crust. Bathrooms were really nasty and towel dispenser did not wort start to finish. Worst part is no-one seems to care about quality.

I'd give 100 stars if it was an option. My family and I went here on our first night in Winter Park and LOVED IT!!!! Shared the cheesy bread, wings and two pizzas. All of it awesome! So enough about the AWESOME food....service was great as well. Very attentive hostess and waitress. We will be back and will recommend to anyone and everyone.

I have had pizza all around the country and this was some of the best pizza I have ever had. The Hernandos sauce was especially great. Stronboli was great to along with great service.

Great service, walls are crazy and full of dollars, spent most of my time staring at them lol we had a pizza which was good. Pizza dough is soft and fresh.

  • Kurt G.

Hernandos is CRAZY busy just about every night of the week it seems during the high tourist seasons (ski season and summer). I see what the hype is about: It's a cool atmosphere (20,000 dollar bills on the wall), they serve good pizza, and they do it with a smile. That being said, there's not a ton of great dining options in winter park, so it shouldn't be surprising that a place that has it together like Hernandos would be popular. I think the place is great, just doesn't get 5 stars for me because I don't find the pizza terribly impressive. It's good and I definitely enjoy it every time, just not knock your socks off good. Hernandos is a must try if you are in winter park, it's just not the ONLY restaurant worth going to in town like some would have you believe :)

    (4)
  • Jason C.

Well Jeff, as you recommended I gave it another shot when I had some friends in town Friday so I called and made a reservation for 7 o'clock and we were sat much faster this time with only waiting about 10 or so minutes. Again you guys were out of cheese bread for the second time. Exactly the server said "all bread". Could not believe no alternative was offered. We ordered a pizza, few beers.

  • Simon O.

This place is super good!!! Great pizza at a good price for the mountains. We got a thick crust wheat pizza "Simone" style. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. The vibe in Hernandos is very cool as well, and we had very friendly quick service! Great pizza place for a date or for family time. We'll be back for sure.

Love love love! After having a few disappointing dinners in the area I was so happy we came here on our final day of vacation. I know it's pizza but this place is about atmosphere! Aside from pizza we ordered an appetizer of cheese bread, a meatball sub, Stromboli, baked rigatoni, and giant cheese ravioli. Everyone was satisfied with each of their orders even me with my Stromboli. Delicious marinara and pepperoni!

Just went here for take out again. I love Hernando's Pizza. The Chicken Sonoma and the Supreme are always my pizza cravings here. This time we ordered them both since there was a group of us. Again I was a very happy girl. FYI- the Antipasto salad still rocks but our large portion felt a bit small for the price. I could have sworn that when dined in last winter our large was much bigger. It's still a great place to go in town. The pizza rocks here! I think it's the best in Winter Park. Wish they had delivery for those nights when I want to skip the crowds and drink wine at home.

Small portions. The 10" is for one person. Its tasty though. Pretty pricey ...might just go to elevation pizza in Fraser for a better value

Perfect dinner spot, especially if traveling with kids. We loved that we were able to stroll over from our condo at Telemark. 10i minute wait on a busy summer weeknight. Kids loved the thin crust , and my husband and I really liked the "Simone style" folded crust pizza. Decent wine list, good ambiance , and a chocolate sundae to top off a good dinner.

I first found Hernando's on Yelp last year when we stayed near Winter Park ski resort, and we had driven in late on a Friday night and needed some nourishment quickly. With an exhausted, on-the-brink-of-a-meltdown toddler in tow, we needed a viable takeout option, and Hernando's seemed to fit the bill. We ordered a few pizzas and a large salad, and it was plenty of food for 5 adults. We even had a few leftover slices. I don't remember exactly what pizzas we had (we just picked existing ones off the menu vs. making our own), but I remember them being really good. I specifically do remember that we got a Greek salad - and it was amazing! Chock full of olives and Greek deliciousness. Highly recommend. The second time could have put a serious kink in my view of Hernando's... we tried to go Friday night after we drove in, and they were CLOSED for a private party. Lights were on, "OPEN" sign flashing, but a paper sign on the door saying they were closed! Seriously! We were only there about 3 minutes, but I easily saw a total of 10 cars somewhere in the process of driving up, getting out, seeing the sign, getting back in, and driving away. Very disappointing. Lucky for Hernando's, my hubby was hellbent on having this pizza, so we returned on Saturday and all was (mostly) forgiven. This time we ordered a 10" pesto pizza on whole wheat crust, as well as garlic breadsticks and another Greek salad. The garlic breadsticks were not anything to Yelp about (they were really just your average garlic bread), but the Greek salad was, again, amazing. The pizza was also REALLY yummy. The whole wheat crust was surprising tender and delicious. Heads up though, we were trying to not have leftovers - but all this food was not quite enough for the 2 of us after a long day of skiing. I think I had a granola bar when we got back to the hotel, and then I was good. Also, as other people have mentioned, the dollar bills all over the wall are pretty cool... if not completely illegal. I had to take a star off for this defacing of currency as well as the closed-on-a-Friday-night incident. But other than that, highly recommend!

This pizza is so amazing. Once you finish your pizza, your dessert is the crust. The portions are kind of small for the price, and the restaurant is super busy on weekends (1-1.5 hour wait) - so make reservations early, or just do take-out (which will also take 1-1.5 hours).

    (4)
  • Erika B.

The pizza was great. We liked the thin crust! It was thin but we still had crust to have with some honey. Loved the marinara with the cheese and garlic bread. Chicken Parmesan was yummy too. Great for our group of eight. It was full on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. We'll go back. Maybe they will have Ale-8 soda on the soda gun. :)

This review is about service. I walked into Hernando's earlier this evening to order a couple take-away pies for my son and I. First time visitor. Bartender forgot to put the order through and literally bought our dinner to make sure we'll come back. Will we? OF COURSE!! and you should too. The pies were excellent, totally hit the spot, and I'm sure lots of people have commented the same. However, what really struck me is these guys understand customer service the way a new restaurant trying to make things stick in NYC does. You get one chance to impress with customer service, and that leads to several chance to impress with the food. These guys "get it" and it makes sense that they're totally packed on a Monday night and probably have been for decades. The walls are covered in dollar bills, but the real money is the staff. You all won a lifetime customer tonight (at least any time I'm back in Granby), so thank you for caring and making my first impression absolutely stellar. Keep it up!

The pizza was pretty good and the restaurant ambiance was very neat as well. The service is what really stood out for me. The bartender was extremely friendly and outgoing. He went out of his way to tell us about things to do around the area.

  • Brian S.

The best thing about this place is it's great for large groups as far as seating and eating goes. The pies are the best part of the menu and they'll let you do a wheat crust which is really good. Ingredients were fresh, nothing canned, but there was nothing gourmet or really great about anything. The beer does come in pitchers which is nice.

Hernando's Pizza & Pub holds a special place in my heart. In addition to having excellent pizzas, the staff is incredibly helpful. One time a party for 50 dined at Hernando's. However, more than 80 people eventually showed up to get their hands on some fine pizza. The staff accommodated us all, so kuddos to them.

Pizza is fantastic. They also have great lasagna and other pastas. Super friendly staff. Always a good variety of beer on tap. The dollar bills make for a unique atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Clean restaurant. Busiest restaurant in Winter Park!! Take out available and convenient as well.

We were in town for a girls weekend in June and grabbed pizza to go from Hernando's on a Saturday night. The pizza itself was excellent and the gluten free crust tasted awesome (just wish they had a full-size GF crust option). My only reason for 4 stars is the prices seemed a little high for the amount of pizza you got.

    (4)
  • Swavino T.

This place is a bit overrated. For my taste, it has a very tacky atmosphere. All the walls, tables, and even ceilings are covered with defaced $1 bills. At least $20,000 of wasted money. The pizza and pasta were okay. The wine okay. The beer list was lacking. The place is super busy and you should call ahead for seating unless you want to wait 2 hours for a table. Why was so busy? Because it's overrated by Yelpers. If you are okay with takeout pizza, try Elevation Pizza further down the road in Fraser. Much better. However, if you want to put down some beers and eat some hearty pizza on a cold winter night, this is the place for you. Addendum: I do appreciate the managements response to my original review. It shows they are very attentive to their customer base. To improve the pizza here I would recommend more tomato sauce, less cheese, and better definition of the individual toppings that we ordered. They all seemed to blend together. I couldn't really make them out when I looked at the pizza. As far as the dollar bills being posted everywhere, I was aware of the original story. I had read it on the menu when I wrote my original review. I really don't think anybody comes to this restaurant to see the dollar bills on the wall. They come here because the food is good, the service is excellent, and the management clearly cares about the customers. Why not take down the dollar bills and make this place look more classy?

Wow, this place is amazing! I had no idea where to grab dinner when i arrived for a weekend getaway to winter park as it had been over 10 years since id been here last. I stopped into Hernandos, and boy was I glad! This is some of the BEST pizza i have ever tasted. Homeade crust was to die for,and the fresh Parmesan to top it off was just perfect! I wish there was a hernandos in Longmont! I might have to make a once a year trip, just to eat here. Also, the decor(dollar bills everywhere!) was awesome

We always go here when we are in Winter Park for skiing or biking. It has never disappointed. Great pizza, atmosphere and beer. In the summertime a table out on the deck is a very pleasant experience. This is one of the reasons WP is better than Breck, Aspen, Vail and all those other resort towns.

Awww, the owner posted a response! How cool is that? "Thank you for taking a moment to write a review for us. It's great to hear that you're a fan of our honey and crust, and that our delivery service has always been quick. I'm sorry to hear that you're not crazy about our atmosphere or the dollar bills. They're a big part of our tradition, and a fun way for us to stay connected to the hundreds of tourists who come to Winter Park every year. It's great for the families to come back year after year and see that their dollar is still there, hanging where they left it. I hope you won't let our family-friendly atmosphere keep you from enjoying our pizza and pub--we love all of our guests and would love to see you again soon! Take care, Jeff Davidson, Owner" Thank You Jeff! I am actually not crazy about the atmosphere or the dollar bills but am aware this is a considerable bonus for your target demographic. Yes, bonus star- it was excellent service received plus your professional attention to yelp reviews.

I'm being generous with three stars here; the third one is mostly because they pour their pints in Ball jars and because they have over 20,000 decorated $1 bills stuck up all over the place (neat). From what I was able to tell, in Winter Park you can either choose pizza from here, a NY-style place down the same main street, or Pizza Hut. Not realizing the NY-style place was slightly closer to where we were staying, we found Hernando's and went for it. Their parking lot was nearly full (a good sign) and their dining area was mostly full (a lot of families with small children). The service was sufficient. At first I thought our server's mannerisms were part of the place's shtick -- turns out it was just that guy (I'm pretty sure). I also saw another server wearing flip flops, which I'm not sure is sanitary and it certainly isn't all that safe, but I don't suppose they're preparing the food with their feet, so whatever. After looking over the menu, I decided to go the pasta route (instead of the originally intended pizza route), and everyone else got pizza. Hernando's offers 10" and 14"; they also offer stromboli. Diners can choose from their list of pre-designed pies, or make their own. They have standard pastas: spaghetti, fettucini, ravioli, lasagna. I chose the vegetarian lasagna, which, at $10.95 a plate comes with nothing other than the pasta -- no bread, no side salad. Kind of lame, but maybe it's so good none of that matters. Wrong. The lasagna was disappointing at best, and pretty gnarly at worst. It's fine if they want to make a 1/2 pan of veggie lasagna and reheat the servings as they're ordered. However, it's better if the individual servings are heated all the way through (which mine was not). It's also better if the noodles are cooked al dente when prepping the whole pan, so that they don't end up slimy and soft when served to the diner (which mine were). Also, would it hurt ya'all that much to use actual ricotta instead of cottage cheese? Cottage cheese in lasagna is fine if you're at home and on a diet. In a restaurant setting it's not good. The pizza... well, the others in my party ordered meat-a-saur pizza, so I only had a nibble of a piece of crust. I'm not sure if it's the altitude or what, but it was like cracker stuffed with bread. Think Beau Jo's, where "Colorado-Style" is a euphemism for "our crust sucks". They did put honey on the table (ala Beau Jo's), but I'm wondering if that sort of thing is an after thought... My opinion is in the minority here. Am I missing something because I'm "city folk" (relatively speaking)? Is there something in the water up there that makes this place stand out to others? Or was it because I hadn't spent the day riding, and therefore wasn't famished to the point where everything tastes amazing? Maybe I should have ordered that Ball jar of New Castle. Or three. I bet that would have made it taste alllllright...

TERRIBLE!!! We ordered green side salads, and received big piles of croutons with a little lettuce hidden underneath. Then we had pasta which had horrible sauce. How can a restaurant make such awful pasta? Really! We agree with the reviewer from Germany who also did not like the food here.

Crazy-good pizza! Hernando's is a MUST visit while in WP. There are many dining options in town, but I can't think of any place that I like more than Hernando's. Great environment (very "mountain town feel" as you'd expect in WP), phenomenal pizza and to wash things down, they serve great beer. What else do you need? Seriously!?

Winter Park's best place to eat -- no doubt, y'all: - Delicious pizza that would be good anyway you slice it (Ha!), but is only elevated in goodness after a tough day of skiing - Pasta that is equally as delicious - Excellent service, atmosphere, and crowd - Beer by the pitcher (also a requirement after a tough day of skiing) - The antipasto salad is the stuff that dreams are made of - way better than the caesar - Cheese bread - YES PLEASE Each time I've been to Winter Park I've been here so I think it's fair to say it's a tradition. You should make it one, too.

This is a great family dinner joint after hitting the slopes. They have bench style seating, so good for large parties. Great for pizza/pasta (hence the name). A wide variety of chohices on the menu, great beer selection. We got there early - 5:30pm found a table easily, but by the time we were done around 6:30pm, there was a 30 minute wait already. Get there early or be prepared to wait!

Amazing Gluten Free Pizza, great atmosphere, what more could one want?

GLUTEN FREE PIZZA, GLUTEN FREE "BAKED" BUFFALO WINGS, be sure to stress the preparation (like not using the same sauce on your pizza that is used on all of the other pizza causing cross contamination when the ladle spreads over the gluten pizzas), also their hot sauce has gluten so you the buffalo wings have to come out with with barbecue sauce. Tip: have them char the barbecue sauce because it comes out covered in wet sauce and charring the sauce makes it so much better.

Always forget how delicious this pizza is until it hits my plate during our summer visit to WP. Fresh ingredients, great rolled crust, perfect ratio of sauce and toppings. We all love to have dessert of pizza crust and honey - unique and tasty after dinner treat. Great place. Our favorite restaurant in town. Hard not to dine here daily. Servers are always friendly and attentive. A++. Wonderful WP tradition pizza joint. Will always return on our vacations to the mountains.

We make sure to eat at Henando's every time we are in town. Classic pasta place, and always busy. Best tip is to get there early (5pm) to avoid waiting in long line for a seat.

Good place for a casual dinner. I love that the salads have 3 different sizes, Greek salad is really good. My husband gets the alfredo everytime we go. The hotwings are really hot but really good. If we get a pizza we always get the rolled crust. :)

The decor is fine, the service is exceptional; I was treated better here than anywhere else I've ever visited. They stock Pepsi products and a large selection of alcohol, delivered by a friendly staff. Their pizza selection is beyond broad - I ate a Column 1. Unfortunately, the crust takes up quite a bit of real estate, and I didn't get quite as much as I felt I paid for

We had heard this was best pizza in Winter Park and were not disappointed. The service was friendly and fast. We will return.

Favorite place for family dinner in the valley. Awesome food, always fast, great value. Staff is friendly and they are always checking in to ensure you are taken care of.

Delicious! Now a tradition the whole family enjoys. The Scampi and Column 1 rock, and the rolled crust is mmmmmmmmmmmm-scrumptious.

It's ok. The pasta was exceedingly ordinary, but the pizza and atmosphere were good. Not incredible, but good. I imagine that if you're an annoying tourist fresh off the slopes, that this might seem like the greatest pizza joint since Chuck-E-Cheese. It's ok. Just ok. I'm not saying don't go. Go. But be aware, it's not 5 star worthy. Silly tourists!

One word... Awesome! Great pizza, cold beer and yummy salads all wrapped into a fun atmosphere. I strongly recommend trying a Jerry's (Simone) pizza!

Very good pizza and great service. I couldn't stop looking at the dollar bills on the walls. Maybe I'm just a moron. The honey on the wheat crust is really good.

We always hit Hernandos as part of our annual ski trip. It is part of our tradition. Their food is good and they offer some different varieties, such as pineapple pizza. We always order the stromboli. The decor is unique as they have dollar bills everywhere. Recommended as a ski week tradition.

Have stopped in here many times during trips to the cabin north of Winter Park and I'd say it's one of the better places to eat in the Fraser Valley. Huge selection of foods, great pizza and a pretty neat atmosphere ($20,000+ in decorated dollar bills covering the walls and ceilings). There's a great area outside to sit and enjoy your meal along with a well stocked bar. They also have the usual crayon/papers for the kids to keep busy for a few minutes. Just remember that SOMEONE has to order the pizza with some crust suitable for dipping in the provided honey. Yum. P.S. Not sure what Brad W. is talking about with paying for soda refills because they're free. //shrug

The atmosphere upon walking in is immediately comforting. The lighting is adequate without being too bright. The have a fireplace in the middle of the room which is perfect for warming up after a day of skiing (it was -16F with windchill that day). They have dollar bills from customers taped all over the walls of the restaurant as well as underneath epoxy on the tables themselves. Definitely has a good vibe to it. The pizza's are delicious and come out with tons of toppings. Although it seems like they had a surplus of mushrooms since there was (what seemed like) a ratio of 3-1 for mushrooms to anything else. packaged up the leftovers and then ate them for breakfast the next day, still tasty. Would definitely recommend this place to skiers/snowboarders looking for a hot meal after a day on the slopes.

I'm a self admitted pizza snob. The pizza here is very good and for me the only thing that separates very good (4 star) to great (5 star) was the crust. A little more crunchier would have been wonderful. The thick 'rim' of the crust with honey is very nice. Good menu options. Friendly staff.

  • Brad W.

I like Hernando's. So, why the two star rating. We just got charged a small fortune in soda refills. Today I pretty much expect free refills. At the very least you TELL the customer they aren't free. To do otherwise is deceiptful at best. Enjoy the pizza but don't trust em. Oh. And tip accordingly. Good service is rewarded. Deceipt is not.

This restaurant was definitely popular, as there was a 45 minute wait when we got there. Sat at the bar and had a drink, we had 2 kids with us, so it took about 10 minutes before the bartender would wait on us. Would have given 4 stars if we received better service in the bar. The table service was prompt, and the pizza was good, probably great for Winter Park area, and the salad we ordered was yummy and fresh! Would go back if we visit again!

The best pizza in Colorado!! We were recently visiting from the Chicagoland area and so excited to find pizza as good as we have here!

I been going to Hernando's for many years. At first, its unique ambiance and style of dining perked my interest. Given lack of quality restaurants in the area, it is not a bad place to dine...but, I think the place has over the years been losing its quality. Maybe I should have just ordered a pizza but the salad and pasta combination was no go. Service was o.k.....merited 15% Did I just have a bad night? or is Hernando's becoming complacent?

We've been here twice now, nearly a year apart. It has been crushed busy both times, so the best advice I'll give you is do call ahead seating. You can call starting 1PM same day. We got lucky with a small party of 3 and only waited 45 minutes or so. Most were told 1.5 hours and some 2+! What's great? Pizza rocks. Choose the thick crust if you want to eat with honey for a dessert. I had half meatball and half Italian sausage sub. Great! Wings and cheesy bread were excellent too. Better yet full bar with New Belgium beer on tap.

Awesome place. Great place to honey your pizza crust, grab some cold drinks and enjoy yourself. Not quite on par with Beaujos, but it's still VERY good, especially after a long day of skiing, hiking, or mountain biking in Winter Park.

Loved the gluten-free pizza crust and my favorite place for gluten-free pizza. Too bad you are not in Denver! My husband and I went here twice, once to check out the restaurant for our rehearsal dinner and the other was our rehearsal dinner itself. We sat on the patio the first night which was beautiful on a cool summer night. The place is definitely great for large parties and within a very reasonable price range if you are hosting/paying for a large crowd. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food and the kiddos loved their dessert. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, especially when we had about 25 people. We will definitely visit again when we are in Winter Park!

I have been here a handful of times and the experience, quality and service is always consistent. Go for the 14 inch Column 1 and add Jalapenos. The Stromboli and wings are a must. Ask for Jeff and buy him a shot. Enjoy and post a bill on the wall.

Wonderful pizza, friendly staff and a fun atmosphere. Just dropped in with friends since we were in the mood for pizza and this place really surprised us. Cool decor as well... a nice place to kick back and relax.

When we hit Winter Park for snowboarding or mountain biking I get excited because that means a trip to Hernando's. All I can think is "nom, nom, nom, nom"!! The pizza is delicious, the pasta is yummy and the beer is cold. Oh! And they give you honey for the crust. Oh yeah! Even better, this place won't break the bank like some other resort pizza joints will. I can't wait for the snow to start so I can hit the slopes and hit Hernando's again. nom, nom, nom, nom....

I see no reason to write a detailed review... But, my two cents are: service was great (no questions asked), food was top notch (it wasn't bland like most places around here), and the price was well worth it... I have found a place to eat over and over again when I'm in Winterpark!!!

We heard that Hernando's was the place to go for pizza in Winter Park. Our friends were only half right. Not only was the pizza great, the stromboli was truly sublime. To me, the essense of great pizza resides in the crust I'm not usually a fan of whole wheat pizza crust, but Hernando's nailed it perfectly. We also ordered the stromboli with whole wheat dough and it was excellent. One of the reasons we went with pizza was to easily enjoy vegetarian fare. The challenge with most veggie pizzas is that the veggies usually make the meal soggy. Fortunately, the pizza and stromboli were both perfectly moist without coming close to sogginess. As good as the food was, all of the above praise would've normally earned 4 stars. The thing that put Hernando's over the top was their effotlessly perfect service. I called in our order for pickup duing half time of the game. Not only were they happy to have hot & ready exactly on time, they threw in a free Diet Coke because they only had small cups. I know a free small soda may not sound like a big deal, but it exemplified the attitude of their staff in making sure our experience was excellent. We're looking forward to our next trip to Winter Park and feasting at Hernando's again.

We Just Love Hernando's Pizza Pub a Must stop every time we are up in Winter Park, If it was not a far drive from Denver i would go get it once a week, We always go up for July 4 and it's always busy so we went a little earlier and just sat down. The Food is A++ Cant wait to go back at the end of the Month !!!

The pizza dough was a bit soft for my taste (maybe that's the altitude?), but the quick service, friendly atmosphere and roaring fire made up for it. The large green salad serves 4; the beer selection is good. We'd go back again.

A different kind of pizza. Thick crust that you finish off with honey. I like it (although if you are from Chicago - you will think it is mediocre). I also like the other dishes and the side salads. Long waits during ski season. My kids love this place (and I do too). We are up in WP nearly every other weekend and we always make a stop here. Tip -- Call ahead and get on the wait list or be prepared to wait. Grab a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (my favorite brew) while waiting and tell your favorite stories from the day of skiing/boarding.

Just moved to town and stumbled upon Hernando's.. Very tasty drinks and pizza's! Unfortunately, staffing seemed a little on the sparse side. After waiting a few minutes to be seated by the busy bartender we had to wait a good 20 minutes to be asked our orders and drinks by the only waiter there! All in all the tastey food made up for the wait!

  • Amber Z.

Next to Beau Jo's, the best pizza ever!! My family, friends, and I have been going to Hernando's for many years! The food is incredible and the atmosphere is great! And they have honey for the pizza crust! ;)

Not possible for me to come to Winter Park without coming here. Looooong waits, but they give you buzzers that work as far as the parking lot. I'm not a huge pizza fan but make an exception for this place. The thin wheat crust is great for the pizza (I like artichoke, red onion, and spinach) but be sure and sit by someone who order the thick crust so you can smother it with honey.

  • Clifton G.

NomNomNom... Hernandos now has another very satisfied customer! Went there with my family while on vacation in Winter Park. Everything we had was great. Tried the family sized greek salad which had just the right balance of lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, peppercinis, feta cheese, and dressing..Delicioso We also tried two different pizzas, one with the thick crust and traditional meat toppings, and the other with the thin wheat crust with veggies. The two pizzas were very different, but both of them were tasty enough to justify every calorie each bite brought into my body. Thanks goes out to all the Yelpers whose glowing reviews led me to this glorious gem of a pizza joint. They also saved me time by recommending calling ahead for seating. While others were being told to wait for an hour and a half, we were able to be seated within fifteen minutes of arrival thanks to getting or name on the wait list ahead of time.

  • Mark K.

The food here was excellent for winter park and you can't really beat the prices (about $9 per plate). The wait staff is very friendly and do a pretty good job. The wait times can be awful so calling ahead is recommended. The hostess seems to over quote wait times. We were quoted 30 minutes and when we were seated they took us outside. There were 3 open tables inside and 5 outside and it still took them a while to seat the group behind us. Overall a good place to eat and has a really friendly environment.

  • Peg L.

Wow! Incredible food and service. We will definitely be back for future ski , back packing excursions. It is crazy busy so call ahead to be put on the waiting list. Our first time through incurred a 1 1/2 hour wait so we learned and came back the next night. We were seated immediately! Can't wait to go back!

Hernando's is an open but cozy, casual pizza place and bar. The dark wood interior is covered with decorated dollar bills left by patrons over the years. The pizza is very good. There are several styles of crust/sauce/seasonings but we just tried the traditional one. Prices for pizza are good; soft drinks, salads, etc. are a little pricey for what you get. Hernando's is only open at dinner, opening at 5 during the week and 4 on weekends. Definitely a worthwhile stop after a long day of skiing.

"Life's too short to eat bad pizza." -- that's their slogan, and its true to it. Best pizza I've had in a long time. Great prices, good beer, and great atmosphere. There are decorated dollar bills everywhere, which apparently began as a bet when the place opened. There is outdoor seating, and a cozy warm fire inside as well. Highly recommend the stromboli- you can pick whatever you want in it. (I went with shrimp, mushrooms, and sun dried tomato- yummmmy!) If your in the area- definitely a spot to hit!

Here is a secret about Hernando's: world class minestrone soup. Yes they have great pizza, but their minestrone is "killer." So the next time you come over Berthoud Pass and find yourself in Winter Park, stop by for a bowl...Excellent

Best pizza in the valley! Always busy and crowded, so expect a wait if you go during the holidays or busy ski weekends.

Great food, same waitress from a year ago, kid friendly. VERY crowded winter or summer, call ahead and get on the list. A bit pricey, but the food is great.

An average pizza pie, but definitely the best in the Winter Park-Granby area. It looks like a German Brewhouse from the outside, strangely enough, so don't miss the sign. Bench-style seating in a cozy atmosphere complete with a fireplace. Pies are thicker than average, sure to fill you up after a hard day of skiing. Ingredients were pretty fresh. I'll definitely be back when I'm up that way again.

amazing in this day and age a pizza parlor charges a 20% gratuity for a party of 6 when the party is 4 adults, a 6 month old in a car carrier, and a 2 1/2 year old. when we asked the server, she replied it's stated on the menu and stomped off. amazing that servers who make minimal effort to deliver an appetizer, 4 beverages and two pizzas expect to be treated to a 20% gratuity for minimal contact. when leaving we asked manager about this policy and he immediately offered to change the bill and delete the 20% gratuity. we said with the snippy attitude of the server and the insane policy of the restaurant, we will look elsewhere to spend our hard earned $$ and make everyone aware of the absurd poilcy. I've eaten in many fine restaurants with a party of six and gladly accepted their stated policy of an 18% gratuity because the servers in fact worked hard to accommodate 6 adults.

Best pizza West of Chicago! I love this joint. Nice people, great food and a great time. If you are within 100 miles of Winter Park, you better stop by for some honey dipped pizza. The best!!!!

Perfect for filling up after a day of bumps at Mary Jane. I cannot say one bad thing about this place and will definitely go back everything we had was good. They do not try to be something they are not and do what they do well, hence the line of people trying to get in.
